Biographical Note

David E. Blaine, 1824-1900, and wife Catherine. Representative of East Genesee Conference of Methodist Episcopal Church, New York, to Puget Sound; was Seattle's first minister, founder of First Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle. Wife Catherine was first Seattle school teacher.Lived in Seattle 1853-1856 until sent to Oregon, 1856-1862. Returned to N.Y. till 1882 then requested return to Seattle and it was granted.
