Biographical Note
Lois Brown Crisler was born in Spokane, Washington. She wrote about
the wildlife in the Olympic Mountains and the Arctic. Her first book, "Arctic
Wild" was written in 1953 when she and her photographer husband, Herb, went to
Alaska on an assignment for Walt Disney to photograph wolves, caribou, and
other wildlife. She wrote several other books and articles, including "Captive
