Organization formed to develop and preserve Pike Place Market,
Seattle, Washington.
Begun in 1964, Friends of the Market evolved from a committee of
Allied Arts. Sponsored successful 1971 Market Initiative to create a historical
district and head off urban renewal plans for the Market. Co-chairmaen were
Victor Steinbrueck and Robert D. Ashley.
