The partnership of of Per Edward Larss and Joseph N.E. Duclos was
formed in Dawson in August 1899 after acquiring the business of E.A. Hegg which
was originally started in 1898. In 1903 Larss withdrew from the partnership and
Duclos continued the business until 1912. Besides portrait work, they carried
thousands of views in stock including scenes along the White Pass, around Dyea,
Skagway, Bennett and Whitehorse.
The collection includes Dawson town life, celebrations, business
establishments, street scenes, group portraits of miners and residents,
dogsleds, mining claims, winter scenes, and steamers. All 1898-1910.
Restrictions may exist on reproduction, quotation, or publication.
Contact Special Collections, University of Washington Libraries for
details.
The collection is open to the public.
