Mrs. MacGowan worked at Boeing during WWII. A college graduate in music, she has remained active in many music organizations, especially Seattle Young Artists.

Mrs. MacGowan describes growing up in early-day Fauntleroy when there were only two houses. She recounts her teaching career, marriage and family. She was among the earliest Mountaineers and describes mountaineering in detail, including the beginnings of mountaineering classes and of REI Co-op.
The partial transcript includes an index to subjects covered on the tape.
