Biographical Note

Political leader, Washington State.

Thomas C. Rabbitt was born in 1905. He was a Washington State Senator (Democrat) from 1942-1946; Vice-President of the Washington Pension Union, 1938-1961; Executive Secretary of the Progressive Party of Washington, 1952-1953; and Executive Secretary of the Washington Commonwealth Federation from 1942-1946. Rabbitt was an air raid warden during World War II. He was called to testify before the Velde committee circa 1953 or 1954. He died in 1961.

Scope and Content

Correspondence, ephemera, and photographs from his term as Washington state senator (1942-46), from the 35th district --Seattle -- and other papers concerning his role as an officer in the Washington Commonwealth Federation and Washington Pension Union; papers on the Progressive Party in Washington State; 1943-1961.

Writings: regarding Canwell hearings 1948-1949, regarding U.S. Senate Subversive Activities Control Board (Velde Committee) 1953, regarding Washington state taxation situation.
