Building History: Paul Thiry (1904-1993) became one of Seattle's earliest and most influential Modernists during the 1930s, the Huntington House being one of several that he did in the late 1930s that received critical acclaim. University of Washington Professor of Architecture Victor Steinbrueck included the Huntington House as an example of progressive Modern architecture in a guidebook he prepared for architects visiting Seattle for the convention of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 1953.
