Notes: Also known as: Village Theatre, Village Theater, Mann's Village Theatre; the Janss Investment Company, planners of Westwood Village, the site of the Fox Westwood Village Theatre, devised that certain buildings within its Spanish Colonial Revival commercial district would have towers, to be used as landmarks for motorists speeding by on Wilshire Boulevard. The theatre had a dominating 170-foot beacon, its top emblazoned in red neon with the word "Fox." The tower located the theatre and marked the Broxton Avenue-Weyburn Avenue intersection.
Building History: Ground was broken for the Fox Westwood Village Theatre, 11/1930; it opened 08/14/1931. Like a number of theatres in Westwood, the Fox has been used for many motion picture premieres.
