Notes: Architect Gordon Bernie Kaufmann (1888-1949) designed Toll Hall in the Spanish Colonial Revival Style prevalent during the 1920 in CA; it had white stucco walls, red tile roofs and sash windows.
Building History: Eleanor Joy Toll Hall, named for a founding Scripps College Trustee, became the first realized building in the quadrangle plan of Kaufmann, opening in 1927. It served as the first dormitory on campus.
