Repeated sections near Sri Lanka

Each file includes sections near Sri Lanka, gridded using an horizontal scale of 10 km.

gridded_sections_8N.mat:                 17 sections east of Sri Lanka, along 8N.
gridded_sections_8N_seasonal_mean.mat:   seasonal average (DJF, MAM, JJA, and SON) sections east of Sri Lanka, along 8N

gridded_sections_80E.mat:                36 sections south of Sri Lanka, along 80.5E. 
gridded_sections_80E_seasonal_mean.mat:  seasonal average (DJF, MAM, JJA, and SON) sections south of Sri Lanka, along 80.5E. 

VARIABLES:

lat: latitude grid
lon: longitude of the glider along each section
z: depth grid
bottom: bathymetry from Smith and Sandwell along the nominal glider track.
x or y: distance from the origin of the coordinate system. 
lon0 and lat0:  origin for the coordinate system.  

T: Gridded temperature (degC) for each section.
S: Gridded salinity (psu) for each section.
Chl: Gridded chlorophyll-A for each section, when available
O2: Gridded oxygen for each section, when available
time: Gridded estimate of the time when the glider was at this location and depth
MLD: mixed later depth estimate along each section. 

u_dive: dive-average eastward velocity along each section
v_dive: dive-average northward velocity along each section
u_sfc: surface eastward drift velocity along each section
v_sfc: surface northward drift velocity along each section
bottom_dive: average bathymetry for each dive

lat_glider: time series of the glider longitude along each section 
lon_glider: time series of the glider latitude along each section 
time_glider: time base for the glider position time series
z_glider: time series of the glider depth along each section 

u or v: estimate of geostrophic velocity across this section
u_adjusted or v_adjusted: estimate of geostrophic velocity across the section adjusted near the surface to account surface currents over the mixed layer (from surface drift).

u_aviso: surface geostrophic velocity field from Aviso interpolated at the glider location and time. v_aviso: surface geostrophic velocity field from Aviso interpolated at the glider location and time. 
sst_oi: satellite sea surface temperature interpolated at the glider location and time. 
sss_oi: satellite sea surface gsalinity interpolated at the glider location and time.
