The following files in this repository support the study 'Effect of Aspect Ratio on Cross-Flow Turbine Performance' by Aidan Hunt, Carl Stringer, and Brian Polagye: -'slimmedARData.mat' contains experimental data relevant to the study. This file contains 'AR_Results', a MATLAB structure containing time series data for each experiment. This structure has the following fields: -Experiment: The set of experiments this data belongs to (i.e., 'High Re-Fr'). -AR: The aspect ratio of the turbine in that experiment. -turbType: The turbine geometry this data represents (i.e., 'supports only'). -TSR: The time-average actual tip-speed ratio (TSR) at each nominal TSR step for that experiment. -C_P: The time-average C_P at each TSR step for that experiment. -B: The time-average blockage at each TSR step for that experiment. -Fr: The time-average Froude number at each TSR step for that experiment. -Re: The time-average Reynolds number at each TSR step for that experiment. -'ventilation.mp4' contains a video showing the most severe ventilation observed in our experiments. The video was taken using a GoPro recording at 120 FPS and a resolution of 1440p. The turbine has an aspect ratio of 0.95. The flume conditions are set to those of the High Re, variable Fr experiment for that aspect ratio (see Table 1 in the paper), with the exception of the temperature, which is 20C in this recording (however, the ventilation observed is comparable). The video shows ventilation at tip-speed ratios of 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3. The turbine is stopped between tip-speed ratios. Note: At the end of TSR = 1, the turbine was briefly accelerated to TSR = 1.5 by mistake, then stopped. Send questions are requests for additional data to Aidan Hunt at ahunt94@uw.edu
