Title: Hatcheries, Interactions, and Ecosystems
Author: Pearsons, Todd
Abstract: Todd Pearsons will present an overview of salmon hatcheries. He will address critical scientific uncertainties related to hatchery programs: increasing long-term natural production, limiting genetic impacts, and limiting ecological impacts. He will review relevant research findings. Finally, he will present an adaptive stocking concept, meant to correct deficiences in the current hatchery paradigm. The adaptive stocking concept is an approach that considers ecological conditions and feedback to inform decision-making.
