Analysis on Political Parties Alliances
Abstract
Enlightened Myanmar Research Foundation (EMReF) has been carrying out political-oriented studies since 2012. In 2013, EMReF published the Fact Book of Political Parties in Myanmar (2010-2012) and studied the views of political parties on country’s development. Since then, EMReF has conducted research related to political parties, elections, Hluttaws; and recently EMReF published Information Distribution of Hluttaw. EMReF believes it is important to understand the power and involvement of political alliances in upcoming politics beyond the 2015 elections. The primary aim of this report is to understand the direction, strategy, and the current role of the allies and the post-election possibilities towards better political transitions and development of true federalism. EMReF mainly obtained the data from the in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with MPs and leaders of individual parties and political alliances. The findings also support the strategic planning for sustainability of such alliances by understanding their constraints and barriers. Most importantly, “forming alliances” is seen as the major strategy in politics and international relations and is paramount important for achieving political goals. Therefore, EMReF would like respective political alliances to use this strategy in implementing their goals while understanding the importance of having fairly organize, dutiful and true alliances.
