Oceanic sediments retain signatures from variations in productivity, water conditions and temperature making it possible to recreate past environmental conditions in the context of climate change. In Oxygen Deficient Zones (ODZs), oceanic regions with low oxygen concentration, the sediment record is mostly undisturbed creating ideal study sites for paleoceanographic reconstructions.
