Vogt, Kristiina2011-04-202011-04-202006-12-05http://hdl.handle.net/1773/16498Vogt will discuss subtropical rainforests, using the Luquillo Experimental Forest of Puerto Rico as an example. The major disturbances of this forest are hurricanes and deforestation. Vogt will discuss the impact of hurricanes and droughts on the forest ecosystem. She will focus in particular on the coqui, the most abundant and widespread frog in the region. The resiliency of forests seems to be controlled by the health of the local frog population.en-USsubtropicsrain foreststropical rain forestshurricanesforest ecosystemsdroughtHylidaewaterkeystone specieshydrologic cycleWet Tropics: the Paradox of Not Enough WaterPresentation
