In all cases the British Library catalogue listing appears. Where possible biographical information on each composer is included. This occurs for approximately two-thirds of the six hundred and forty composers. There are three appendices, organized by type, that group the works according to their decade of composition. A final appendix contains detailed critiques of the Sonata in E major Opus 121 by Ignaz Moscheles, the Sonata in G minor Opus 125 by Ferdinand Ries, and the Sonata in D minor Opus 31 by Josef Wolfl. This manual is intended as a reference guide for cellists who wish to increase the variety of nineteenth century works in their recital programs.
