Abstract

Sanguine is a collection of poetry and prose that explores the blood red connection through personal confessions, objects, the ekphrastic and fables. Sanguine takes the form of a human heart and contains four chambers: Nature, Desire, Celestial and Mortality. Just as the human heart must beat to live, minimalist poems called, heartbeats serve as contractions between poems to keep the body of work, “pumping.” Sanguine declares itself as a heart amongst many, seeking recognition and kinship through red words.
