Abstract
In this study we utilize facility level data from three nationally representative surveys conducted in Uganda, Kenya and Ghana. We analyze the availability of pharmaceuticals and quantify the effect of various factors that affect facility stock-out of pharmaceuticals. Specifically, we use a binomial regression model to analyze stock-out of essential pharmaceuticals required to alleviate national disease burden. We find that both presence of a lab at the facility and presence of a vehicle at the facility are significantly associated with reduced stock-out.
