A study to determine the attitudes held and opinions expressed by obstetricians and gynecologists relative to the expanded roles of health care providers in maternal and infant care

Abstract

Perceptions of a general economic need to provide lower cost medical services have resulted in large part from the extraordinary increase in physician's fees that has occurred since World War II. From 1950 to 1972, physician's fees increased almost twice as much as the overall consumer price index. This increase suggests that expanded delegation may be useful in constraining future medical costs.
