| dc.description.abstract | This dataset contains chemical data for archaeological materials from sites in the Banda Islands, Indonesia. It includes two files. One contains 51 major, minor, and trace element concentrations for the paste constituent of 200 earthenware sherds, obtained by LA-ICP-MS. The second contains stable and radiogenic isotope ratios (δ13C, δ18O, 87Sr/86Sr, 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, 208Pb/204Pb) for 50 enamel samples from pig teeth. Materials come from the PA1 site, on Pulau Ay and the BN1 site on Banda Neira. | |
| dc.description.sponsorship | Fieldwork was supported through grants from the National Geographic Society and the Henry Luce Foundation. Laboratory analysis was supported by a dissertation fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies/Henry Luce Foundation. | |
| dc.description.tableofcontents | Data File 1: LA-ICP-MS data for pottery from the Banda Islands, Indonesia -- This file contains LA-ICP-MS results for 200 pottery samples from archaeological sites in the Banda Islands, eastern Indonesia. Data are reported for 51 elements. Major elements are reported as percent oxide and minor and trace elements are reported as concentration per mil. Data File 2: Isotope ratios for pig teeth from the Banda Islands, Indonesia -- This file contains isotope ratio results for 50 tooth enamel samples for pig teeth recovered in archaeological excavations at sites in the Banda Islands, Indonesia. 18O/16O is reported as δ18O ‰ vs. VPDB. 13C/12C is reported as δ13C ‰ vs. VPDB. 87Sr/86Sr, 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, 208Pb/204Pb are ‰. | |
