Abstract
The Husky Voter Engagement Project has produced a report on voter
engagement levels at the University of Washington Bothell campus for the 2016
Presidential Election and created a policy recommendation to increase the voter
engagement of students. Campus voter turnout was analyzed by matching UW Bothell
student information with publicly available Washington State Secretary of State voter
registration data. Additionally, student surveys and interviews were conducted to assess
student attitudes towards civic engagement generally. A holistic analysis of these
different data collection methods led to a multi-pronged policy recommendation that
includes integration of voter registration methods into classroom policy and the
engagement of all students in policy-oriented courses related to their field of study.
