Chemical dynamics based on methane, light backscatter, and redox potential of hydrothermal plumes at Rumble III, Kermadec arc, New Zealand

Abstract

This study characterized the chemical ecology of the Rumble III plume by comparing data from CDTO sensors. The plume is 250 meters below the surface of the water. A reduction in oxygen, higher particulate numbers, and reduced chemical species such as methane defined the plume.
