The development of anti-slavery sentiment among the colonial Pennsylvania Quakers
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to outline the development of anti-slavery sentiment among Colonial Pennsylvania Quakers. A pure chronological treatment of this development would present such a conglomeration of activities from different sources as to make it quite difficult to see the contributions of the individual Quaker reformers, the steps taken hy the Society as an organization, and the role of the Quaker Assembly. Therefore, a modified topical presentation has been used with a chronological approach within each chapter. To compensate for this, I have made cross references in the text and in the footnotes.
