Abstract

The author in this Thesis is endeavoring to outline the basic divisions of the physical education work at the Bellingham Senior High School. This school has a population of approximately 1700 students. This outline is done with the object of briefly, but definitely describing the philosophy underlying the physical education work, including: the scope of the work delegated by the school administration to the department of physical education, the staff and co-ordination of the teaching organization, the courses of study in both health education and physical activity, the intramural and recreational program, physical education guidance, first aid and training room service, and the interschool athletic program. In order to conduct a smooth running organization which is to revolve around the differences of opinion and methods of execution inherent in a multiple teaching and multiple ooaching staff a comprehensive managerial system is set up to standardize this work in the department, thereby making it possible to keep laundry accounting and equipment use consistent and efficient. The managerial plan also offers ample opportunity for a maximum of student activity.
