Estuarine circulation in Barkley Sound; observed characteristics and processes

Abstract

In March 2010 hydrographic data was collected in Barkley Sound as a part of a study to help better understand the physical properties and circulation processes within the Sound. The primary goal was to determine how the freshwater from Alberni and Effingham Inlets exit Barkley Sound into the Pacific Ocean. Understanding the circulation of the Sound is important for many reasons, among them, the need for biologists to account for the effects of environment on organisms.
