The primary goal of this project is to develop a streamlined landmark nomination template that integrates with King County Context Statements, includes policy review, and promotes resource sharing. This initiative aims to simplify the process for community members to nominate culturally significant buildings without the financial burden of hiring a qualified consultant, thereby fostering greater diversity and representation of marginalized communities. Traditionally, the landmark nomination process has focused on the architectural integrity of a site. However, this project emphasizes cultural significance, equipping individuals and communities with the tools needed to nominate culturally significant buildings, protect these important spaces, and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in the Landmark Nomination Process.
