dc.description.abstract	During his lifetime, English composer Ivor Gurney wrote nearly 300 art songs. To date, only 100 of these songs have been published. This dissertation surveys the remaining unpublished manuscripts and identifies five as displaying a high degree of craftsmanship as well as potentially brilliant artistic output by Gurney. In an effort to evaluate their viability toward publication, each of the five songs is analyzed, edited, and typeset into performance edition. Accompanying this document is a recording of each of the five songs.	en_US
