Abstract
Logsdon will discuss current trends in data management and sharing. Traditional database designs focused on accessibility. New database architectures focus on integration. He will look at watershed models as an example, to show what is being observed, measured, modelled, and shared. He will outline problems encountered along the road. He will sum up by pointing out that with changes in technology come the opportunity to change metaphors: from data library to data stream. From a systems perspective, think connectivity rather than collection.
