Abstract

The marine ecosystem around the Galapagos Archipelago is characterized by regionally high primary production and chlorophyll a concentrations that are uncharacteristic of the surrounding waters of the Eastern Equatorial Pacific. Phytoplankton growth and microzooplankton grazing rates were investigated during a cruise from 20-28 January 2006 aboard the R/V Thomas G. Thompson at three stations in the Galapagos Archipelago. Half of the samples were enriched with iron.
