Abstract
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the Russian Federation, which will be re-ferred to in this paper as Russia, have a long history of contention that stems from the Cold War and is present to this day. After the fall of the Soviet Union, the future of NATO-Russia relations went through a period of cautious optimism. But after the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea, dialogue between NATO and Russia deteriorated. With significant challenges ahead, the Alli-ance should analyze its capabilities and ready itself with a multi-faceted defense.
