By restoring thickness in our thinking about the wall, the wall may regain its coherence and even become more substantial, complex and meaningful. The thesis looks to tradition, the ancient practice of thick building, and its reinterpretation by modern masters, and investigates a return to thickness, in our walls, spaces and architecture, as an alternative to the current practice of an architecture dominated by thinness.en_US
