I explore the intersectionality of Hindu mythology, the caste system, and colorism. Although the caste system is supposedly abolished, it still plays a large role in India today as notions that have originated from it are still in place today, such as colorism. My goal is to analyze that though Hindu mythology is not inherently colorist, the modern juxtaposition of Hindu Gods and Monsters in literature and art reinforces detrimental prejudice that is passed down through generations of families.
