A comparison of the wind band writing of three contemporary composers: Karel Husa, Timothy Broege, and Cindy McTee

Abstract

Karel Husa, Timothy Broege, and Cindy McTee have each composed works which represent significant additions to the wind band repertoire. The purpose of this study is to compare the contributions of these three contemporary composers.The dissertation examines the biographies, compositional philosophies, and compositional styles of Husa, Broege, and McTee. The writer includes analysis of representative works from each composer as well as a chronological list of works.
