Super-realism in the novels of Charles Dickens
Abstract
The approach to the observation and demonstration of what may be termed super-realism in Dickens' novels does not conform to the ordinary methods of criticism because it cannot be objective. Almost everything that can be said has been said about Dickens' melodrama, the social implications of Dickens' novels, and Dickens himself, but it seems that the problem of what makes the greatness of Dickens' art has not been satisfactorily resolved; perhaps, as in all great art, in can never be.
