In the present study, I had two main objectives: First, to determine the rates, regions, and duration of elongation in a variety of kelps and, second, to compare the results obtained from use of the hole-punch and fluorescent labeling techniques. After reporting these results, I will briefly compare them with the results of previous studies of kelp growth. In conclusion, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the various techniques, concentrating on those used in this study.en_US
