Azimuthal asymmetry of hadron jets produced in deep inelastic muon scattering is studied for the first time. The data were collected at the experiment E665 at Fermilab during 1991-1992 using liquid hydrogen and deuterium targets. The muon beam had a mean energy of 500 GeV. A detailed study of various popular algorithms for identifying jets within an event leads us to choose the modified JADE algorithm and the Ellis-Soper algorithm for the energy range of this experiment. A total of 148639 events with $Q\sp2>3\ GeV\sp2$ and $W\sp2>25\ GeV\sp2$ are used in this analysis. Using the identified 2-jet events we studied the azimuthal distributions of the jets in the center of mass frame of the target and virtual photon. Comparison with the perturbative QCD prediction is made.en_US
