Support of Public Education in Washington State Relative to Equalization of Educational Opportunity

Abstract

This study investigated the variation in educational opportunity in Washington State under certain hypothetical matters of distributing state grants-in-aid such as: 1) When factors in the state school distribution formula are eliminated or mixed in different, predetermined and specified proportions, and 2) when a given increase in state support is distributed under circumstances where local effort in relation to local ability to pay is used as a factor in the formula.
