Abstract

Joseph Anderson will begin with a brief history of efforts to colonize Chinook salmon, as well as some alternative hypotheses. Next, he will present a research project that examined the success of Chinook and coho salmon colonizing efforts in Washington State. He will consider: 1. Population productivity. 2. Individual reproductive success. A. Natural origin vs. hatchery Chinook salmon. B. Selection on breeding date in coho salmon. He will summarize the results of the study and discuss the impact of dams in the Pacific Northwest.
